method contemporary dance

method Press Pack

method is an Los Angeles based contemporary dance company that relishes the off-center state, lives in a high-speed world, and disregards the moment of recovery, preferring instead the moment of sheer abandon.  The aesthetic of method is one where the human body is stripped of artifice: no spoken word or text, no video projection or multi-media display, no play-acting: just pure, high velocity, idiosyncratic, unbridled movement and momentum.  60 minute performances include "Supercedure", "Remarkably Content Free", "...then see if you still love us", and a repertory of mixed pieces.

Leonix

Leonix Press Pack

Leonix is a movement theatre ensemble that devises original performance work provoked by creative explorations of burning questions. The name “Leonix”, a fusion of the Lion and the Phoenix, is a metaphor of the troupe’s objective to create courageous and regenerative work.  Blurring the lines between theatre, dance, music and circus arts, Leonix strives to create innovative performances that are physically bold and visually surprising.  Co-Artistic Directors Erin Schlabach and Jones Welsh, present 60 minute shows "Crossing The Bridge" an abstraction about the dying process and their new work in development "The War Within" which explores the life and wife of a soldier returning from Iraq.

Spontaneous Fantasia

 J-Walt's Virtual Reality Performance Demo

Spontaneous Fantasia is the live performance work of J-Walt, who utilizes the latest in interactive computer graphics techniques to bring paintings to life. The result is a Spontaneous Fantasia, a Live animated movie set to music that unfolds before an audience. These works incorporate elements of animation, theater, dance, painting, sculpture, music, architecture, and interactive art.  Current 90 minute shows include "Infinite Frontier" and "Gardens of Illucium" with live music by the renown Hutchins Consort.

Hutchins Consort

Hutchins Consort Performance Demo

The Hutchins Consort plays on the eight scaled violins of the violin octet designed and built by famed luthier Dr. Carleen Hutchins. The instruments are the first successful attempt to create an acoustically balanced set of instruments that can sound truly like violins across the entire range of written music, the Hutchins Consort produces an astonishing pallet of sounds.  The Hutchins Consort plays music of the Middle Ages and Renaissance to the music of the modern masters. With original compositions and transcriptions commissioned by the Catgut Acoustical Society for the octet of violins, and new transcriptions by members of the Consort, The Hutchins Consort displays a breadth and depth that few traditional groups match, and a sound that is truly unique.
