A week of
movement workshops, performances, and jams in sunny Santa Monica, California. The festival is a celebratory exploration of the
variety of improvisational movement styles and alternative dance techniques;
featuring Contact Improvisation and including Body-Mind Centering, Capoeira, Break
Dancing, Release Technique, Authentic Movement, and Alexander Technique.
Featuring a 5-day
intensive workshop with internationally renowned instructor and performer Nina Martin, founding member of Channel Z, an innovative performance
collective, with Stephen Petronio, Robin Feld, Danny Lepkoff, Randy Warshaw and Diane Madden. Nina has also collaborated
with the pioneers of Contact Improvisation Steve Paxton, Nancy Stark Smith and
Lisa Nelson and teaches all over the world, recently in Japan
and Russia.
Also featuring Lower Left Performance Collective
from San Diego. Co-founded by Nina
Martin in 1995, Lower Left will be teaching several workshops
and performing in Opening The Gates: Festival Faculty
Performance on Jan 14th & 15th @ 7:30pm. Visiting
artists include Rebecca Bryant, Alicia Marván, Jessica
Radulovich, Karen Schaffman,
and Andrew Wass.

Los Angeles Improv Dance Festival (iD Fest
2008): A week of movement workshops, performances, and jams in sunny Los
Angeles, California. The
festival is an exploration into the variety of improvisational movement
techniques; featuring Contact Improvisation, Site Specific Laboratory, Improv Partnering, Improvisational Performance Structure,
Ensemble Movement, and integrating sound, voice, theatre, sets and structures
into performance.
In-Site Collaboration Performance: An exciting new approach to
improvisational performance, which matches up renown artists from all over the
world to collaborate on new improvisation structures, crossing disciplines, and
creating new territory. This year’s
focus is site-specific works and ensemble performance for a unique and
enigmatic performance experience each night.
