Leonix Movement Theatre Ensemble Co-Artistic Directors

Jones Welsh is a performer, administrator, and arts activist.  He received his degree in theatre and dance and from the University of Washington in 2000, then founded 501(c)3 performing arts organization Making Faces Productions (www.makingfacesproductions.org), which co-produces the annual LA Improv Dance Festival and the Somatic Movement Arts Festival.  Completing five years with Diavolo Dance Theatre, he now collaborates with Collage Dance Theatre, Invertigo Dance Theatre, Intention Dance Theatre, Not Man Apart Physical Theatre Ensemble, Keith Glassman and Dancers and devises original performances with co-director Erin Schlabach in their new company: Leonix Movement Theatre Ensemble (www.leonixtheatre.org).  In addition to teaching athletic modern dance at Cal State LA and UCLA, Jones is also the Adult Program Manager at Broadway Gymnastics School and teaches Contact Improvisation and Dance workshops across the globe. 


Erin Schlabach is a director, performer and teacher.  She is the Co-Founder and Co-Artistic Director of Leonix Movement Theatre Ensemble.  Her original theatre works have been presented in Los Angeles at REDCAT in the Walt Disney Concert Hall, The Electric Lodge, Highways Performance Space, Son of Semele Theater and Espace, in Seattle at The Annex Theatre, in Indianapolis at The Earth House and in London at the Notting Hill Arts Club and the Bullion Room at the Hackney Empire.  Since 2004, Erin has served as the vice president of Making Faces Productions, a 501(c)(3) arts advocacy organization, through which she has co-produced new work and festivals in Los Angeles, including The Company of Strangers and the LA Improv Dance Festival.  Erin is a graduate of the Ball State University Theatre Department and has trained extensively with renowned theatre practitioner Rachel Rosenthal.  She spent two years in London gaining her MFA in Lecoq-Based Actor Created Theatre from Naropa University at the London International School of Performing Arts as a Lucien Wulsin scholar. Erin now teaches physical theatre workshops with Leonix, Improv Olympic, and throughout Los Angeles.
