Clown Choreography for Performance Pieces

This specialized workshop integrates the experience of renowned creator and comic act designer for Cirque du Soleil, Stefan Haves, with the physicality and precision of Diavolo Dance Theatre veteran and artistic associate, Jones Welsh. We will focus on the construction of short physical comedy performance pieces for the live stage. We will explore elements of classic clowning material, as well as audience interaction, comic timing, falls and slapstick physical theatre. The workshop will culminate in a public presentation of acts on the final day of class, as well as in possible future productions of Fracture at the Ford and Your Town Follies. Clown Choreography for Performance Pieces classes for for Summer are $30 each or $75 for 3 Saturdays with Stefan, $75 for 3 Sundays with Jones, or $130 for the entire series: July 31, Aug 21, 22, 29, Sept 4, 5, 12 (Presentation) at Diavolo Dance Theatre Space, 616 Moulton Avenue, Downtown LA, 90031, in the Brewery Arts Complex off North Main and the I-5.
